If any of you out there know about this special little spot in the world well you know at time it can slap a ship around. It is the point in the Atlantic where the Gulf Stream starts heading East to Europe. Like 400 miles East of Virginia and about the same South of Massachusetts. The Water Temp is a nice tropical 71 and the air (strait from Canada) in the 30s. As a result you get rain, fog, hail, wind, waves, snot, Etc. etc.

Guess what the Scientist wanted to study? Yep the weather. At this point in my life I am going to quit thinking that they are “smart”. It was not fun, lots of sick people, broken computers and the like.

The Good news was It was my first trip as Chief mate. Besides the weather things went very well. I had a great crew and that makes things very easy.
